After a Ph.D. in the team of Olivier Delattre at Curie Institute, Souhila MEDJKANE joined Richard Treisman’s lab in Cancer Research UK in London, where she did her post-doc. She was recruited as Maitre de Conférence at the University Paris Diderot, in the team of Jonathan Weitzman in 2008. She worked on the impact of cell signaling in a model of reversible leukocyte transformation and the implication of epigenetic modifications in cancer progression. She received the HDR (authorization to direct research) in 2013 and was nominated junior member at the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) in 2015. Since 2016, Souhila has had her group within the team headed by Jonathan Weitzman at the center of Epigenetics and Cell Fate at the University Paris-Cité. She has extended her research on the emerging field of non-histone methylation and how this critical post-translational modification contributes to cancer promotion. Souhila became an associate professor in 2019. She is now the co-director of the Master 2 of Genetics and the co-director of the Graduate School EUR G.E.N.E at Université Paris Cité.
