Annabelle completed her PhD at the University of Oxford in 2024. Under the supervision of Prof. Monika Gullerova in the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, she investigated the role of small non-coding Y RNAs and the RNA-binding protein, YBX1, in intracellular and intercellular responses to DNA double-strand breaks. She joined the Polo group in July 2025 and will be working to characterize the role of BCL7 subunits of chromatin remodelers in DNA double-strand break repair in human cells, in collaboration with Elisa Bergamin’s group at the IGBMC in Strasbourg.  In parallel, Annabelle will initiate a project to investigate the functional relevance of RNA modifications in the UV damage response.
