Samantha did her PhD at Osaka University, in the laboratory of Stem Cell Pathology under the guidance of Prof Toru Nakano.
She studied the allelic expression of dopa decarboxylase (Ddc) in the mouse brain, and the effects of Rif1 gene in the female mouse embryo development.
After graduating, she worked with her collaborator, Associate Prof. Kousuke Baba in the Department of Neurology of Osaka University for a year, utilizing the established Ddc reporter mice from her PhD study, as a mouse model for the investigation of molecular events in dopamine neurons during the early stages of Parkinson’s disease.
She joined the Rougeulle’s lab in March 2022 as a post-doc on an ERC-funded contract, to unravel the mystery of human X-chromosome inactivation
